OPSC Board Announcement: New Leadership at the Oregon Patient Safety Commission

On behalf of the Oregon Patient Safety Commission Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Interim Executive Director, Valerie Harmon, has been appointed as the permanent Executive Director for the organization.

Valerie has served as the interim executive director since December 2021. Since joining the organization in 2011, she has served in a variety of leadership roles, most recently as the Chief Operating Officer since 2018.

Valerie exhibits a passion for patient safety and respect for the needs of both patients and those providing care for patients. She has been a consistent and solid leader for the Patient Safety Commission, during my time on the board. Having gradually assumed more responsibility over time, it is a natural progression for Valerie to step into the executive director role. I am confident that she is the leader the commission needs to support and evolve patient safety efforts in Oregon.
