Patient Safety Awareness Week | March 8-14, 2026

Let’s work together to make care safer in Oregon.

Patient Safety Awareness Week is a dedicated time to focus national attention on patient safety. And in that spirit, Governor Tina Kotek has proclaimed that March 8-14, 2026, is also Oregon Patient Safety Awareness Week! This week is the perfect time to grow awareness about patient safety and recognize the work already being done right here in our state.

Curious how the Oregon Patient Safety Commission (OPSC) is helping improve patient safety?

Patient Safety Awareness week is annually sponsored by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). The theme chosen for this year is Team Up for Patient Safety, focusing on effective collaboration between the care team, patients, and their families. This year’s theme is a reminder that teams should include all of those involved in the patient's care, including the patient.

Healthcare providers! Have you taken the Patient Safety Survey yet?

If your healthcare facility is eligible, take the survey to help us understand what systems healthcare facilities have in place for responding to and learning from medical harm. Be a part of the patient safety solution. Let’s do this together to make care safer in Oregon.
